The concept behind automatic mesh belt pass-through systems is the implementation of a small pump that forces water through the weld puddle in the lower part of a coil and then into the final coil area. By using the two water streams, a detergent stream is pushed through the passageways. As the two different streams meet in the middle of the mesh puddle, the high pressure stream that is present in the low point of the lower part of the mesh is converted to a lower pressure stream by the second water jet. This process continues until all the water in the lower half of the coil area is in the clean water column.

High pressure steam cleaning is especially helpful in applications where it is difficult to clean the high pressure areas manually, such as pre-tensioned sections or where cleaning requires pre-scanning before the cleaning can take place. Many industries utilize automatic mesh and belt pre-scanning systems for pre-determined areas of their equipment. Automated systems allow for the easy inspection of the welded areas that require pre-surfacing and pre-filtration before the actual cleaning takes place. These inspections also provide the necessary information to the operator on the condition of specific components of the machinery that are prone to high pressure. The operator then has the information needed to initiate the correct actions to prevent catastrophic failure of the affected component.

In most applications, an automatic mesh belt pass-through is used with a rotating drum containing a pre-filter to remove debris before entering the pre-filter area. The pre-filtered air passes through a hose to be collected in a holding tank. The hose is then returned to the rotary drum from where it is released into the passageways. This type of system ensures that debris does not get trapped in the rotating mesh filter. It also helps to improve air quality and to remove debris from the mesh pore while it is being cleaned.

One of the many benefits of automatic mesh belt pass-through systems is the ability to replace older mechanical cleaning methods such as manual suction cleaning. Older versions used suction pumps that require physical contact between the blower and the filter media. These physical contacts wear out over time, forcing the media back into the filter media system and requiring another cleaning cycle. Another benefit is that this type of cleaning method generally only removes dirt particles that have passed through the mesh and have been eliminated from the air. It does not necessarily remove larger particulates that may have remained in the system after it has passed the mesh.

A disadvantage of automatic mesh belt pass-through systems is that they often do not eliminate dust buildup in the belt. If you use a non-electronic brush to clean your belt, some dust will still accumulate in the belt. This dust can become very abrasive if you are not careful. An automatic belt cleaner eliminates the need for physical manipulation of the belt, although it can be difficult to know which filter media to use when cleaning the belt.
