The Story Behind Silicon Carbide Crucibles

Silicon Carbide Crucibles is one of the newest and very popular metal fabrication methods.silicon carbide crucible graphite crucible in egypt This graphite material has been around for a few decades, but only recently has it started to be used for crucible tools. Most of the carbon steel tools that you can buy today make use of carbide or carbon fibre as the base material for their construction. Unfortunately this means that the current metal fabrication methods cannot be used on these tools because they will not yield to the forces due to the high carbon content.

Luckily the same is now changing.silicon carbide crucible graphite crucible in egypt A team of chemists in the UK have managed to create a thin layer of silicon on top of the carbon, which will then react with the metal in the tool to form a thin layer of metal that is extremely tough. Not only do these materials look similar to graphite, but they also yield to the same chemical reactions that occur in the body when it comes into contact with carbon. They also conduct heat very well, making them ideal for making tools which cut through the toughest metals.

These new silicon carbide tools however need to be manufactured using very precise procedures so that the surface of the carbon can be flat and smooth. So far the chemists have only managed to fabricate a few of these tools and they are proving extremely difficult to manufacture in volume. If they successfully developed a flat and smooth surface, then they may be able to use this new metal for constructing pipes and other pieces of equipment which would be ideal for excavation sites. They could also be used for making bulletproof vests and other barriers to protect people from gun fire.

The silicon carbide was invented by accident. Dr Seuss Geisel was experimenting with drying paints and felt that the surface of the metal would be flat and therefore easy to machine. Later on he made the alloy with the same properties. By accident, the alloy was patented in 1923 and the rest is history as the world's first Graphite Crucibles or Cement Crucibles as they are commonly referred to. This new material was later used in several applications including bulletproof vests and buildings. Today, the process is still going on and several new applications for the metal have been discovered.

In Egypt, the silicon carbide was later called Turquoise. With the development of new building materials, the old methods of making building materials like cement and stone became obsolete. The new methods were based on new discoveries and new engineering techniques. A new building material was required which could withstand many harsh weather conditions and also be flexible and light-weight. Both these requirements fit perfectly the new alloy, which was made from the silicon carbide.

Today, the graphite is mostly used as roofing tiles. The graphite is lightweight and easy to work with. The silicon carbide crucible or Cement Crucibles are also used in the making of airplane and space ships.
